The aim of ADHD coaching and mentoring

My aim is to help you understand yourself, your brain, and your needs more clearly through ADHD coaching and mentoring.  This means you can make informed choices about work, life and support, and build confidence in advocating for what genuinely works for you.

This is not about “fixing” you. It is about clarity, self-trust and alignment.

Where coaching highlights the need for changes to systems, structure or environment, practical support can then be introduced in a way that is individual, proportionate and harm-aware. You can read more about my Practical Support services here.

Who this is for

This service is for adults with ADHD – or those exploring a possible diagnosis – who want a clearer understanding of:
  • how their brain works
  • what their strengths are
  • what they need in order to work and live well
It is particularly helpful for people who are:
  • diagnosed later in life
  • feeling exhausted, misunderstood or out of sync with their environment
  • questioning long-held narratives about themselves

What ADHD coaching focuses on

My ADHD coaching is values-based and tailored to the individual.  Together, we explore:
  • Your strengths, and how to use them more intentionally
  • Areas of challenge, without judgement or deficit-based language
  • Patterns around energy, focus, overwhelm and motivation
  • The environments in which you function best, and those that drain you
The focus is understanding, not correction. ADHD shows up differently for everyone, and your individual profile matters.

Late diagnosis and emotional processing

For many people, particularly after a late ADHD diagnosis, a wide range of emotions can surface. This might include:
  • relief
  • grief
  • anger
  • confusion
  • re-framing of past experiences
Coaching provides a safe, supportive space to explore these feelings and make sense of your story.
This is not therapy, but it is a reflective, compassionate process that helps you move forward with greater confidence and self-acceptance.

How coaching and practical support work together

Sometimes coaching highlights that the real issue is not mindset or motivation, but systems, structure or environment.
When that happens, we can gently introduce practical support – such as clearer processes, adjustments or redesigned systems – in a way that fits you, rather than forcing you to fit the system.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. A diagnosis can be helpful, but it’s not essential. If you recognise yourself in ADHD patterns and are struggling, we can still work together.

DO I NEED A FORMAL DIAGNOSIS TO WORK WITH YOU?

This is an important distinction.
  • Coaching is reflective and client-led. We explore your patterns, values, challenges and goals, and I support you to find your own answers and direction.
  • Mentoring is more guided and practical. I can share strategies, frameworks, lived experience and suggestions where that’s helpful.
In reality, most people benefit from a blend of both – especially with ADHD. I’m always clear which mode we’re in, and we’ll work in the way that best supports you.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND MENTORING IN YOUR WORK?

ADHD coaching and mentoring is a practical, supportive process that helps you understand how your brain works, reduce overwhelm, and create ways of living and working that genuinely suit you. It’s not about fixing you or making you “more normal” – it’s about building systems, habits and environments that work with your ADHD, not against it.
My approach combines structured coaching with gentle mentoring, so you get both space to reflect and practical guidance to move forward.

WHAT IS ADHD COACHING AND MENTORING?

Common themes include:
  • chronic overwhelm and mental overload
  • burnout and exhaustion
  • time blindness, procrastination and task avoidance
  • emotional intensity and self-criticism
  • work that doesn’t fit, despite trying very hard
  • late diagnosis and reprocessing your life through a new lens
  • feeling “behind” or like you’ve failed (even when you haven’t)
We work with whatever is most present for you.

WHAT SORT OF THINGS DO PEOPLE BRING TO ADHD COACHING?

No. I don’t see ADHD as something to be fixed. I work from a strengths-based, values-led perspective that recognises both the challenges and the unique qualities of ADHD minds.

IS YOUR APPROACH DEFICIT-BASED?

All sessions are currently online, which allows flexibility, consistency and access wherever you are.

DO YOU WORK ONLINE OR IN PERSON?

I bring together:
  • professional training
  • lived experience
  • a strong values-based foundation, and
  • a deep respect for how hard people are often trying behind the scenes
This is not “productivity coaching”. It’s about building a life that fits you – with kindness, clarity and realism.

HOW IS YOUR APPROACH DIFFERENT?

WHO DO YOU WORK WITH?

I work with adults with ADHD, including:
  • people newly diagnosed
  • those diagnosed later in life
  • people who suspect they may have ADHD and are exploring that possibility, and
  • those who’ve known for years but are still struggling with overwhelm, burnout or self-trust
Many of my clients are in midlife, but age is not a requirement – adulthood is.

No.  I’m not a therapist and this is not therapy. However, the work is often emotionally supportive, reflective and healing in nature. If you are also in therapy, coaching can complement that work very well..
