The aim of practical support

The aim of my practical support work is to create systems that are clear, supportive and sustainable, thereby reducing drain for both individuals and organisations, and enabling neurodivergent people to work independently and confidently.

This is about helping people thrive, not just cope.

Practical support often sits alongside ADHD coaching, where greater self-understanding highlights the need for environmental or systemic change. You can read more about my ADHD coaching approach here.

How coaching and practical support work together

Sometimes coaching highlights that the real issue is not mindset or motivation, but systems, structure or environment.
When that happens, we can gently introduce practical support – such as clearer processes, adjustments or redesigned systems – in a way that fits you, rather than forcing you to fit the system.

If your admin has piled up, your systems have stopped working, or life has shifted in a way that’s left you buried under paperwork, tasks, or decisions… you’re not alone.
Many of my clients come to me because they’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and don’t know where to start. What they need isn’t judgement, but experienced, practical support that helps them regain control.

With 30+ years of experience creating, refining, and maintaining systems across small businesses, voluntary organisations, and large corporations, I bring a combination of professional expertise and coaching skill to help you get things sorted in a way that works for you.

This isn't one-size-fits-all. It's grounded, human, and tailored to your real life.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. While we may work on admin, systems or organisation, my role is not to “do it for you” or impose a generic structure.
I work with you to:
  • understand what’s not working
  • why it’s hard
  • and how to design something that you can actually maintain.
This is ADHD-informed, person-centred support – not a tidy-up service.

IS THIS THE SAME AS A PROFESSIONAL ORGANISER SERVICE?

ADHD practical support is about reducing overwhelm by helping you break things down, create structure, and put systems in place that actually work for you.
This might include:
  • untangling admin overload
  • creating simple, sustainable systems
  • breaking down big, stuck tasks into manageable steps
  • finding ways to reduce friction in daily life, and
  • designing approaches that suit your brain, not someone else’s.
This is not about perfection or Pinterest-worthy organisation. It’s about making life easier.

WHAT IS ADHD PRACTICAL SUPPORT?

Yes.  Many people with ADHD come to me because:
  • traditional employment has led to burnout
  • timekeeping and energy expectations haven’t worked
  • they feel they’re “bad at jobs” when actually the jobs have been bad for them, or
  • they know they’re brilliant at what they do, but struggle with the practical side.
We can explore:
  • what kind of work might actually suit you
  • what support you would need, and
  • how to make self-employment (or a different kind of role) more realistic and sustainable.

CAN YOU HELP IF I'M THINKING ABOUT SELF-EMPLOYMENT?

While this service is designed with ADHD in mind, you don’t need a formal diagnosis. If you’re overwhelmed, stuck, and struggling with practicalities, we can still work together.

DO YOU NEED TO HAVE ADHD TO USE PRACTICAL SUPPORT?

If you’re in the UK, you may be eligible for Access to Work funding, which can provide practical and coaching support for ADHD in the workplace or in self-employment.
I can support you with:
  • understanding what’s possible
  • exploring whether self-employment or a different role might suit you better
  • the application process
  • and making use of any support you’re awarded.
You can find more detail on this on my Access to Work page.
This is especially helpful if:
  • you’re stuck in a job that’s draining you
  • you’ve had repeated burnout
  • or you’re trying to work out what kind of work would actually be sustainable for you.

HOW DOES ACCESS TO WORK FIT INTO THIS?

WHAT KINDS OF THINGS CAN YOU HELP WITH?

Examples include:
  • admin backlogs and avoidance
  • finances and money management overwhelm
  • email and paperwork chaos
  • returning things, cancelling things, chasing things (the “invisible steps” tasks)
  • setting up simple systems for home or work
  • preparing for change (new job, self-employment, diagnosis, life transitions)
If something feels heavy, stuck or noisy, it’s probably something we can work on.

No. All practical support is currently online. This might include screen sharing, co-working, step-by-step planning, and guided problem-solving.
